Vickers Supermarine

 Vickers Supermarine, founded as Supermarine in 1913, was a British aircraft manufacturer famous for the Spitfire fighter in World War II. Acquired by Vickers in 1928, it became Supermarine Aviation Works (Vickers) Ltd. The company’s innovations included naval Seafires and early jets before merging fully into Vickers by the 1960s

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I K9794, 19 Squadron RAF, Duxford, Aug '38, Airfix 1/72 (A02010) & Xtradecal (X72085), Only the 8th production Spitfire, shown as she would have looked Aug 1938   K9794 crashed in January 1939 see details below.

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I K9794, WZ-T, 19 Squadron RAF Duxford, Nov '38, Airfix 1/72 (A02010), Coded WZ-T from Oct '38 and wearing toned down national insignia following the Munich Crisis. K9794 as struck off charge in Aug 39 with only 36.35hrs total time when her undercarriage struck a fence on an overshoot and subsequently collapsed on landing at RAF Digby, Lincolnshire.

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1a P9386 QV-K, 19 Squadron, RAF Fowlmere, March to Sept 1940, flown by Sqn. Ldr Brian Lane. Airfix 1/72 (A50135), Neither P9386  or S/L Lane would survive the war. P9386 was lost on 5 May 1944 2.5km from Cockburnspath. S/L Lane was is last seen chasing 2 FW190s in a Mk Vb 13th Dec 42

Spitfire Mk.IIa P8088

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIa P8088/NK-K 118 Squadron RAF, Ivesley, May 1941, Airfix 1/72 (A02010), Later in the war while assigned to 61 OTU, P8088 crashed Between Prees Green and Fauls, Shropshire, sadly her pilot F/S John C. Barry RAAF - was killed. It was suggested the most likely cause was probably loss of consciousness due to a failure of the oxygen system
